In 2004 the stage version of Dirty Dancing opened in Australia. The story is about the time that a teenage girl matures into womanhood through a relationship with a dance instructor during a family holiday. About a third of the film involves dance scenes. Originally a low budget film, Dirty Dancing has become a major box office hit. As of 2007, it has earned million dollars worldwide. It was the first film to sell over a million copies on home video.
