This unforgettable story is Jersey Boys - the smash hit Broadway musical sensation, which opens in the London's West End in February 2008. Featuring all the classic hits: “SHERRY”, “BIG GIRLS DON’T CRY”, “CAN’T TAKE MY EYES OFF YOU”, “BYE BYE BABY (BABY, GOODBYE)”, WORKING MY WAY BACK TO YOU”, WALK LIKE A MAN”, DECEMBER 1963 (OH WHAT A NIGHT)” and more. Jersey Boys premiered at the La Jolla Playhouse on October 5th, 2004, playing through to January 16th, 2005. The musical opened on Broadway on November 6th, 2005 at the August Wilson Theatre starring John Lloyd Young as Frankie Valli, Christian Hoff as Tommy DeVito, Daniel Reichard as Bob Gaudio, and J. Robert Spencer as Nick Massi. Directed by Des McAnuff, artistic director at La Jolla Playhouse, the musical uses many of the group's hit songs to recount the tumultuous tale of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons' rise to popularity. Part concert, part Jukebox musical, Jersey Boys took in over $400,000 at the box office the day after it opened. The musical made its West End launching at London's Prince Edward Theatre in February 2008. The creative team were the same as on Broadway. Principal cast members were Ryan Molloy as Frankie Valli, Stephen Ashfield as Bob Gaudio, Glenn Carter as Tommy DeVito and Philip Bulcock as Nick Massi. The Prince Edward Theatre hosts this wonderful display of timeless musical talent. Directed by Des McAnuff, with a book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice and music and lyrics by Bob Crewe and The Four Seasons' own Bob Gaudio, it has won four Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Actor in a Musical, Best Featured Actor in a Musical and Best Lighting Design of a Musical. McAnuff is on board for the London version of the show, as are the Broadway creative team: choreographer Sergio Trujillo, production designer Klara Zieglerova, lighting designer Binkley and costume designer Jess Goldstein.
