Room On The Broom

Room On The Broom

The creators of the stage show The Gruffalo are bringing another treat for children to the West End this summer as Room On The Broom descends on the Garrick theatre for a five-week season.

Room On The Broom, which will play daytime performances from 28th July to 29th August, is adapted from the popular picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, whose additional books include The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child. As with those two tales, Room On The Room has been modified for the stage by children’s theatre company Tall Stories, which utilises puppetry, music and song to bring the story to life.

Room On The Broom tells the story of a witch and her cat who are flying merrily along on their broomstick until a mighty wind blasts the witch’s hat, bow and wand away into the night. With the help of a daft dog, a beautiful bird and a friendly frog, her belongings are retrieved. But this broomstick’s not meant for five and soon it snaps, leaving the witch at the mercy of a ravenous dragon.

The stage adaptation, produced by the same team as We’re Going On A Bear Hunt at the Duchess theatre last year, is an ideal introduction to theatre for children aged three to eight.

Room On The Broom will run concurrently with All The Fun Of The Fair, which currently plays evening performances at the Garrick theatre.
